Wandering Area

Nestled in the jarrah forests and rolling farmland of Western Australia’s Wheatbelt, the Wandering area is a quiet rural shire where community life is centred on farming, bushland and a handful of historic settlements. Visitors will find scenic drives through orchards and towering forests along the Bannister–Marradong Road, as well as tranquil picnic spots by the Hotham River. Spring sees the bush come alive with a colourful carpet of wildflowers around Dryandra Woodland, and locals often retreat to the picnic area near Pumphrey’s Bridge for a peaceful afternoon by the water. Wandering’s small population means everyone knows each other, and a tiny weekend market tucked behind the hall often sells homemade preserves and knitwear to those who know where to look.

Wandering Council has an approximate area of 1,900 km².

It is within the state electorate of Wagin.
